As August approaches, California residents who rely on the CalFresh program for food assistance are eager to know when they will receive their benefits. The payment schedule for August has been released, detailing when beneficiaries can expect their Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card to be loaded.
CalFresh beneficiaries will receive the benefits between August 1 and August 10, as payments are made based on the last digit of the recipient’s case number.
CalFresh is the California version of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which supports low-income individuals and families. It ensures that families with low-income food budgets get adequate nutrition. The program can reduce hunger, support health, expand opportunities, and even respond to disasters.

How to Apply
To benefit from CalFresh, you must complete the application. To apply for the CalFresh program, your name, address, and signature are the minimum information the application must have. Applications can be submitted electronically via an online application, in-person, by phone, by mail, or by fax.
Applicants who want to use the online application can do so by visiting GetCalFresh.org to complete the online form. Your county’s social services office will contact you within two weeks after you apply. The call is to schedule an eligibility interview. If your application is approved, you will receive your EBT card in the mail within 10 days.
You can also apply by calling your local California Department of Social Services (CDSS) office at (866) 613-3777. During the interview, you will need documents such as proof of identification, income verification, and proof of immigration status (if applicable).
Checking Payment Status
As a CalFresh beneficiary, you can track your benefits and payment schedule. To check your CalFresh payment status, log in to Benefits Cal. This portal allows you to view upcoming payment dates and any pending amounts.
