Lara Trump as a candidate in the Republican Party
Lara Trump’s rise to co-chair of the Republican National Committee reflects the fusion of Donald Trump and the party he commandeered. Lara who is 41 was personally hand-picked by her father-in-law for that role as he runs for another term as the president.
After a shooting at a Trump rally on Saturday, Lara Trump, who spoke on Tuesday night 16th July, 2024 at the Republican National Convention, was the first family member to address the audience. “Maybe you got to see a side of Donald Trump on Saturday that you were not sure existed until you saw it with your own eyes,” she told the crowd.
Lara is not just a supporter of Trump but has emerged as the family’s leading voice in Trump’s campaign against the incumbent US President Joe Biden, together with her husband Eric, and his older brother Donald Trump Jr. Aside from this, they are also some of the most influential figures in his political orbit.
Lara was the first family member to speak at the RNC and her presence ignited interest in both her role in the family and any further political ambitions. Most people commended her for a great speech during the interview.
One of them is a reporter who recently interviewed Ms Trump for a Time magazine profile, Eric Cortellessa. “ Her speech was her introduction to the nation in a big way because while she’s had roles in campaigns previously and while she’s been a part of Trump’s inner circle and family orbit for the last eight years, this is the first time she is positioned in a role that has real power inside the Republican Party,” he said.
Lara also ran unopposed at the RNC’s meeting in Houston and won with no dissenting votes, completing one-third of Trump’s control of the RNC. Donald Trump referred to his daughter-in-law as an extremely dedicated communicator and dedicated to the “Make America Great” MAGA slogan.
