Goodbye to US Postal stamps – These are the new designs that will arrive on the letters and mailings of millions of Americans

This  updated version aims to enhance security features, further deterring counterfeiting and other fraudulent activities

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced the introduction of a newly redesigned money order, scheduled for release in February 2025. This  updated version aims to enhance security features, further deterring counterfeiting and other fraudulent activities. The redesign reflects USPS’s commitment to providing secure and reliable financial instruments to its customers.

New money order design

The current, or “old,” money order will remain available for purchase until supplies are exhausted. The newly designed money order features a fresh bank routing number and is adorned in patriotic red, white, and blue colors. It will be rolled out gradually to the public and will eventually be available at all post office locations. Both the old and new designs will continue to be accepted at retail postal units and financial institutions as trusted forms of payment.

The transition to the new design is part of USPS’s ongoing efforts to modernize its services and stay ahead of potential security threats. By introducing a more secure money order, USPS aims to maintain its reputation as a reliable provider of financial services.

Enhanced security features

While USPS cannot disclose all the new security elements, the redesigned money order includes several advanced features to combat fraud. These include watermarks, a security thread, and a Quick Response (QR) code that directs users to the official USPS website for verification. These additions are designed to make it significantly harder for counterfeiters to replicate the money order.

Customers can rest assured that USPS money orders remain among the safest financial instruments globally. The enhanced security measures are part of a broader strategy to protect consumers and maintain the integrity of USPS’s financial products.

Suspected fraud? Here’s what to do

If a customer suspects they have encountered a fraudulent money order, they are advised to contact the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at 1-877-876-2455. For those who believe they have received a counterfeit money order, USPS provides a Money Order Verification System, accessible by calling 1-866-459-7822 or checking the status of the money order online at usps.com.

USPS emphasizes the importance of vigilance and encourages customers to verify the authenticity of money orders, especially when receiving them from unfamiliar sources. The verification process is straightforward and helps ensure that customers are not victimized by fraud.
