With the 2024 Democratic National convention Kicking off on Monday, the 19th of August, Americans are eagerly anticipating the event including VIPs like Jason Carter.
The DNC is one of the defining moments that sets the tone for the Democratic Party’s message and the strategy for November. With the line up of compelling speakers, the convention promises to be exciting with a broad spectrum of voices reflecting the diverse coalition the party commands.
One of such speakers is Jason Carter, expected to give a speech on behalf of his grandfather, Jimmy Carter, former president of the United States.
According to an X post by NBC Los Angeles on the 13th of August, it has been confirmed that Jason Carter will be at the event.
Former Georgia State Senator Jason Carter is prepared to support Kamala Harris at the Democratic National Convention.
Initially, Carter was behind President Joe Biden. However, Biden is off the race and now endorses his vice, Harris.
Commenting on Biden’s decision Carter said, “Joe Biden has done a lot throughout his whole life to demonstrate he’s the kind of person to put his country above himself, and so it wasn’t out of character”
With Biden off the race, Carter turns his attention to Harris, in his words “Vice President Harris has the benefit of being part of this ticket and having been a part of this ticket for the last several months and years. She’s run before nationally; she’s been part of the team that beat Trump last time, and she knows how this works”
Interestingly, Jason Carter’s grandfather, Jimmy Carter the 39th president of the United States who will be a century old in less than two months is reported to have said this to his son “I’m only trying to make it to vote for Harris”. His grandson Jason Carter made this known while speaking at Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
According to The New Deal, Jason Carter served as the Senator of Georgia between 2010 to 2015.
He is the son of Jack Carter and Judy Langford.
Jason Carter attended Duke University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a double major in philosophy and political science.
Jason Carter served as a former state senator in Georgia, between 2010 to 2015.
Carter has lived and served in the peace corps station in South Africa. In South Africa, he worked on educational issues in rural areas.
Jason Carter has represented the National Football League Players Association and has won the Stuart Eizenstat Young Lawyer Award for his pro bono work defending voting rights.
At the moment, Jason Carter is a partner at the Bondurant law firm, Mixson & Elmore in Atlanta.
