The DNC convention kicks off on Monday, 19th of August with VIPs lined up for the event, some of whom are expected to give a speech at the event. Americans wonder if the current United State’s president, Joe Biden will be among them.
Biden earlier dropped out of the presidential race, giving off his spot to the Vice President, Kamala Harris.
“Biden announced his withdrawal from the race following widespread calls from Democrats to drop out after his disastrous June debate performance against former President Donald Trump. His campaign suffered major losses in donations and some backers withdrew their support for the president amid the fallout” – NBC Los Angeles.
There’s a bit of dissension on whether or not Kamala has Joe Biden full support and whether Biden will be at the event to affirm his support for vice president, Kamala Harris.
Meanwhile, the convention is set to kick off next week from Monday the 19th to Thursday, the 22nd of August with convention festivities and Kamala Harris giving her ceremonial acceptance speech on Thursday night, the last day of the convention.
Harris will be the first Black woman and first Indian-American woman in history to be nominated by the Democratic party as a presidential candidate.
At the DNC, Harris will also re-introduce herself to the country highlighting specific policies she will be bringing to the fore for the benefit of every American. The convention will set the stage for Kamala Harris to state her vision as the potential president of the United States.
Will Joe Biden be at the DNC Convention
According to a report by NBC News, it’s been confirmed that President Joe Biden will be at the Democratic National convention.
“Biden will speak Monday night during an opening evening of the convention that will pay tribute to the 81-year-old Democratic president, who last month ended his reelection campaign” – USA TODAY.
Apparently, President Joe Biden will not only be attending the Democratic National Convention but is slated to give a speech on the first night of the convention, Monday the 19th of August to kick off the convention.
Biden’s presence at the convention highlights his full support for the vice president Kamala Harris.
According to a news report by CNN Politics, “Biden has told people he is proud of both how Harris rose to the occasion to replace him on the ticket and how the party rallied behind her — in no small part because he quickly endorsed her as his chosen successor.”
President Joe Biden and the democratic nominee Kamala appeared together in a medicare event on Thursday, the 15th of August. This is Biden’s first joint appearance with Kamala after dropping off from his reelection race.
At this event, Biden stated that Kamala will make “one hell of a president”.
This indicates president Biden’s unwavering support for Harris and at the DNC convention, the president will not fail to affirm his support for his vice president.
