Kroger to hire 25,000 employees for the Christmas season – These are the positions offered and to be posted on its job board soon

Kroger is ready to hire over 25,000 workers as cashiers, baggers, pharmacy technicians, as well as delivery drivers.

As the holiday season approaches, retail giant Kroger has announced a hiring spree, seeking to employ over 25,000 workers to meet increased consumer demand during the busy period. This large-scale recruitment drive, part of the company’s annual holiday hiring initiative, is designed to strengthen Kroger’s service across its various brands and departments, ensuring customers enjoy a seamless shopping experience. Kroger’s Family of Companies, including its retail, healthcare, and e-commerce sectors, are actively hiring across the US.

Positions available

The company is offering a wide variety of roles to cater to different skill sets, including but not limited to:

  • Cashiers
  • Baggers
  • Pharmacy technicians
  • Delivery drivers

According to Kroger’s Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer, Tim Massa, this hiring initiative focuses on filling seasonal roles and offering long-term career growth opportunities. “We are committed to offering all associates a culture of opportunity, growth, and a career with purpose,” Massa said. He emphasized that while many individuals may join the team initially seeking seasonal work, Kroger aims to support them in developing fulfilling careers within the company.

Commitment to employee’s growth

Kroger is committed to creating a positive and growth-oriented work environment. In addition to competitive wages, the company offers a variety of benefits that make it an attractive employer during the holiday season. These include:

  • Comprehensive healthcare and retirement benefits
  • Tuition reimbursement (up to $21,000 for both part-time and full-time associates)
  • On-demand training and career development resources
  • Well-being and financial wellness support programs

These initiatives are a testament to Kroger’s goal of not just filling positions temporarily but investing in the long-term success and well-being of its workforce. Kroger’s programs, like its tuition reimbursement initiative, have seen more than $53.9 million in contributions, benefiting numerous employees who started in hourly positions and advanced their education and career prospects.

Holiday season hiring

Kroger’s hiring drive comes at a time when other major retailers are also ramping up their recruitment efforts for the holiday season. Retailers like Target, Walmart, Macy’s, and Burlington are all looking to hire thousands of temporary workers to manage increased demand. Target, for instance, plans to bring on around 100,000 workers, while Macy’s is expected to hire more than 31,500 employees. This wave of seasonal hiring across the retail sector highlights the holiday season’s importance for retailers and the opportunities it creates for job seekers.

Kroger’s hiring initiative is part of its strategy to deliver exceptional service during the festive period. Following the successful Customer Appreciation Week, which ran from September 25 to October 1, where Kroger offered promotions and discounts, the company aims to maintain momentum by ensuring its stores and online platforms are well-staffed. According to Stuart Aitken, Kroger’s Senior Vice President and Chief Merchant and Marketing Officer, the company is deeply appreciative of the loyalty and trust its customers place in them.

“We are so grateful for the trust our customers place in us to feed their families every day and for the opportunity to be a part of life’s precious moments,” he remarked.

Job board launch and application process

Job seekers interested in joining Kroger’s team for the holiday season can explore the company’s career portal, where all positions will be posted soon.

The application process is mobile-friendly, and candidates can quickly apply by importing their profiles from platforms like LinkedIn or Indeed. Kroger’s approach to recruitment focuses on making it as seamless as possible for candidates to find and apply for jobs, reducing barriers to entry for those looking for seasonal employment.
