Affordable options drive buyer interest

Many of the top neighborhoods are attracting buyers due to their affordability. “The more affordable neighborhoods near the top of the list likely attract buyers’ attention for their low home prices and considerable affordability,” said Hannah Jones, senior economic research analyst at Realtor.com.

However, affordability is not the only factor that makes these neighborhoods desirable. Some communities also offer spacious properties or scenic views that make them particularly attractive to homebuyers. Many of the most in-demand locations are in the South, a region where home prices remain relatively moderate and inventory levels are higher compared to other parts of the country.

The five most popular neighborhoods in the U.S.

  1. Woodmont – Milford, Connecticut
Topping the list, the Woodmont section of Milford, Connecticut, has become the most in-demand neighborhood in the United States. With 30 active listings in the area, homes in Woodmont received 3.5 times the number of visits as the average home nationwide.

A typical home in Woodmont was priced at $625,000, or about $387 per square foot. The neighborhood’s prime location offers affordable waterfront properties that appeal to a wide range of buyers, from commuters working in New York City to families seeking a serene coastal lifestyle. “Woodmont attracted significant buyer attention in January,” Jones noted.

  1. Beverly Crest – Los Angeles, California
This high-end neighborhood in Los Angeles ranks as the second most popular community in the U.S. The 113 active listings in Beverly Crest attracted 3.2 times the number of views as the average home, indicating strong demand for homes in this upscale location. With stunning views, luxurious properties, and proximity to the entertainment hub of Los Angeles, it’s no surprise that Beverly Crest continues to draw high levels of interest.
  2. Mount Lebanon – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Mount Lebanon, a vibrant suburban community in Pittsburgh, secured the third spot on the list. Properties in this area received just over three times the number of views as the typical U.S. home. Known for its family-friendly atmosphere, highly rated schools, and tree-lined streets, Mount Lebanon offers a mix of historic and modern homes that appeal to a variety of buyers. The relatively lower home prices in comparison to other major metro areas also contribute to its popularity.
  3. Wild Dunes – Isle of Palms, South Carolina
For buyers seeking a coastal retreat, Wild Dunes is a dream location. Situated on the eastern tip of Isle of Palms, this gated resort community boasts stunning views of the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. With luxurious beachfront properties and access to golf courses, marinas, and high-end amenities, Wild Dunes has become a prime destination for those looking to combine relaxation with luxury living.
