Former U.S pressident was attacked by a gunman in Butler on the 13th of July, at one of his rallies.
A spectator was killed, two were seriously injured and Trump was wounded on his right ear.
According to reports, the gunman was shot dead that day, bringing the total number of dead recorded on the occasion to two.
However, according to a report by the New York Times, the first man who was killed was the 50 year old Corey Comperatore who was shot in the head. Comperatore is married with two daughter and those critically injured were David Dutch, of New Kensington aged 57 and 74 years old James Copenhaver.
The gunman who was identified as 20 years old, Thomas Matthew Crooks was killed by a secret service sniper.
According to reports by the New York Times, “Law enforcement officials recovered an AR-15-type semiautomatic rifle from Mr. Crooks’s body that had been legally purchased by the shooter’s father. Mr. Crooks bought the rifle from his father in October”.
With the recent turn of event, the U.S secret service has decided that the former president, and Republican presidential nominee will no longer be exposed during his rallies for the 2024 elections.
After the shooting incident, Trump has had several rallies, albeit, close doors.
“We’re not giving up the outdoor rallies” – Trump said recently at an outdoor rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
According to a News article by The Guardian, “The glass is usually used exclusively for serving presidents and their vice-presidents, although it was used in November 2008 when Barack Obama, then a US Senator, appeared in Chicago to celebrate winning the presidential election.”
It appears, according to the norms, that this bullet proof glass is only meant for acting presidents and their vice.
However, this will be used by former president Trump in subsequent campaigns to avoid cases like that in Butler from repeating itself.
“The Defense Department partners with the Secret Service to bolster security for the sitting president and vice president, the official said, but does not help protect candidates for president” – according to Washington Post.
However, with the recent development, the defense department and secret service have partnered together to ensure that the Republican nominee for the 2024 presidency is safe.

President Trump has only used his bullet proof glass once which was on Wednesday at Asheboro, North Carolina in front of Thousands of Supporters.
The bullet proof glass is designed to protect Donald Trump in front and behind.
“The U.S. Secret Service has ordered multiple sets of bulletproof glass panels to be stored around the country so it can be trucked to wherever it’s needed” – ABC News source relates.
There will be more outdoor occasions where Donald Trump will be required to use the enclosed bullet proof glass. The rally at Asheboro, North Carolina is only the first.
According to CBS News, “Trump will continue to be surrounded by glass at his outdoor rallies for the remainder of the election cycle”.
Former U.S president, Trump gave a speech at North Carolina where he blamed Kamala Harris for the war in Ukraine and the middle east. Trump verbally attacked the Biden-Harris Administration during his speech.
“Remember when Biden sent Kamala to Europe to stop the war in Ukraine? She met with Putin, and then three days later, he attacked, how did she do it? Think she did a good job. She met with Putin to tell him, don’t do it. And three days later he attacked. That’s when the attack started.” Trump said in his speech.
However, according to ABC news “ In reality, there’s no public record of Harris meeting with Putin. Instead, she met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a security conference in Munich five days before the war broke out”.
As discussions get more heated this election season, Americans are eagerly anticipating the Presidential Debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
