Virginia residents will be able to cast their votes to determine who will be the next president of the United States when they take to the polls for early voting, which begins in the state on September 20 and will continue until November 2. The state has made the option of early voting available to its residents to grant them some flexibility on how and when they can choose to select their candidate in the election that will determine the political landscape of the entire nation in the next four years at least.
Most of the locations where the early voting will take place will allow voters to cast their votes between September 20 and November 2 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with just a handful of locations ending their voting time by 3:00 p.m.
How to register to vote early
As an American citizen, you can vote as early as 45 days before an election. Voting early requires you to register or apply for the option to be an absentee voter online using the systems made available online by Virginia’s Citizens Portal. It should, however, be noted that the deadline for registering to vote or making an update on existing registration information is October 15.
To double-check your registration, you can use the options available on the website. You can also choose to vote on the day of the election.
When is the election?
The US presidential election will be held on Tuesday, November 5. The polls will be open to voters between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
The 2024 election between the Republican Party’s Donald Trump and the Democratic Party’s Kamala Harris has gained the attention of the globe since both candidates solidified their positions as the ticket bearers of the parties in the United States.
The candidates, who have both served in the White House as former president and vice president, respectively, will be looking at gaining the votes of Americans to ensure that they lead the country in the next four years.
They have both selected their running mate, with Senator JD Vance of Ohio being the vice presidential candidate of Donald Trump and Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota being the running mate of Vice President Kamala Harris. The candidates have constantly put forward their policy plans when voted in by Americans. This was most recently done in the presidential debate, which was held in Philadelphia early this month and gave citizens an insight into the planned policy of the candidates, further strengthening their candidacy.
