Marriage to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Cheryl Hines married the famous environmental attorney and political figure Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on August 2, 2014. The two began dating in the year 2011 after each had gone through some life-changing circumstances; Hines was fresh from her divorce with her first husband, Paul Young, while Kennedy was working on divorcing his wife, Mary Richardson.
The two reportedly developed their relationship during a ski fundraiser event in which they both participated. During this time, the marital breakdowns were shared. Hines had said that their early meetings were platonic but their outlook changed when they were both single. When they shared and helped each other out with the burdens, their bond grew.
Despite Kennedy’s political controversies in speaking out for health and environmental issues, Hines has spoken very strongly in his support. She has spoken of trying to keep the bond between them strong with the forces mounted against them. She has said it requires much humor and communicating with each other.
Cheryl Hines’ first partner: Paul Young
Before wedding Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cheryl Hines was married to Paul Young, a highly successful manager in Hollywood and one of the founding partners in the management firm Principato-Young Entertainment. The two married in 2002 but divorced in 2010 after eight years of marriage. The separation was amicable, and they have remained on very good terms post-divorce, even celebrating holidays together with their daughter, Catherine Rose Young.
Since the breakup, Young continued to be successful in the entertainment industry. He is still working on quite a few projects and manages several high-profile clients through his new agency. While they did not end romantically, Hines and Young have both expressed regard for each other; they also co-parented well.
