When you visit your local Costco to shop for them, don’t be surprised if you notice that there aren’t any Kodiak Power Waffle boxes left on the freezer shelves inside that store. It’s because Kodiak Cakes—a strong brand in fitness nutrition and healthy eating lifestyle—is now removing some particular boxes of this particular product line stocked at their outlets in various states such as Arkansas and Washington among others. After all, they are suspected to be contaminated by something unidentified.

This recall concerns their Buttermilk & Vanilla flavor option among other varieties of this same item made by Kodiak Cakes company which reported having a soft plastic film contained thereon.

This concerns exactly 40-count boxes of Kodiak Power Waffles bearing UPC 705599019203, the date of expiry is January 10th, 2026, and the lot code is 24193-WL4. Furthermore, you will be required to confirm the time stamp that is available on the package. Just the products that meet these set standards are being withdrawn.

Where did Kodiak Cakes possibly distribute infected waffles? Anyone residing in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota or Wisconsin should watch out. The recall of these waffles took place at Costco between July 15 through August 25, as per Kodiak Cakes’ decision on August 26.

Why are they taking the waffles off the shelves? It is feared that soft plastic film might be in the waffles, risking someone’s health if eaten. For now, there haven’t been any reports on injuries or illnesses related to such cases since Kodiak Cakes just decided on this as a safety measure. According to a statement released yesterday, “Our decision was made as a precautionary measure even though no injuries or illnesses have been reported among employees” remarked the firm’s spokesperson during an interview KSL TV’s Utah NewsL In an interview with KSL TV Utah News, “we are choosing to be extremely careful even though no injuries or illnesses have been reported among employees,” said the firm’s spokesperson.

In a surprising twist, this recall has been designated by the FDA as a “Class II.” In other words, the waffles could lead to transient or medically reversible health effects. However, the facts are that the chances of such an occurrence being fatal are minimal. It is important always to err on the side of caution as far as potential food contamination goes.

Anyone who happens to own one or more of those boxes has different choices available. To start with, one can always take back the item(s) to any local Costco wholesale warehouse and receive a total amount never less than the one paid while buying it/them at first. Alternatively, should they feel like not going through all these hassles, they might consider discarding them instead, but before doing that please remember to verify carefully codes as well as best before date.

Kodiak Cakes has established a special customer service line in case there are any more inquiries or any issues that may still be pending. They can be sent an email through flapjacks@kodiakcakes.com or called at 801-328-4067. To give you answers to any of your questions, they are always in the office from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m. on weekdays except for weekends because they work only during business days.

Despite the hassle caused by this recall, it is important to mention that Kodiak Cakes has taken this action out of an abundance of caution for its consumers. If you have purchased these waffles, please take a moment to look at the packaging and follow the directions provided for either returning or discarding the affected product.
