Banks and post offices are closed on the 4th of July. This is to mark the independence of the United States. If you are to make any transactions in the bank or mail a package, this will need to be done on Friday or any other business day after the federal holiday.

The fourth of July, Independence Day, dates back to when Philadelphians marked the first anniversary of American Independence, when the first colonies broke away from Britain. However, this independence day became a regular occurrence after 1812. A law was passed by Congress on June 28, 1870, to make the 4th of July Independence Day, a federal holiday. 

Are banks open on the 4th of July?

Banks will not be open on the 4th of July. All branches of Bank of America, Capital One, CitiBank, JP Morgan Chase, PNC, and Trust will be closed to observe independence day. All banks will be fully opened after Thursday, 4th of July.

Is the post office open on the 4th of July?

There will be no mail delivery as all post offices will be closed on Thursday. Regular businesses will resume after the holiday.

However, the priority Mail Express will be open and running, as it is always available even during federal holidays.

Is UPS open on the 4th of July?

According to the UPS website, all UPS store locations will be closed and there will be no pickup or delivery services on the 4th of July.

Is FedEx open on the 4th of July?

According to the FedEx website, most of the company’s pickup and delivery services will not be available due to the federal holiday. Services will be back after the holiday.

However, the FedEx Custom Critical is always available 24/7 in 365 days, this is according to the FedEx Custom Critical website.
