The Canadian Food Inspection has issued a recall on Costco’s yogurt, advising that persons who have purchased the item should either throw it away or return it to the store to get a refund. This is another attempt to ensure that customers only eat food that is healthy and not harmful to their well-being.
Why has the recall been made?
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency recalled Kirkland Signature Greek Yogurt after it was discovered that it contained mold, which can be harmful if ingested.
The product was originally set to expire on August 10. As a result of its expiration, it has gathered mold, making it harmful to customers who buy it and could potentially consume it. The presence of mold is harmful as it can cause several health damages, including respiratory illness, allergic reactions, and mycotoxin poisoning.
On their part, Costco has gone on to remove the product from its shelf and has also encouraged their customers who have purchased the product to either destroy it or bring it back to any Costco store around them for a refund or in exchange for another product, which is not bad, ensuring that the customers get the best value in exchange for their money spent.
It should be noted that the recalled product has already been on sale at various Costco locations in Canada. The stores are located in places such as Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. Therefore, customers who purchased the products at these stores would have to return them or, in the worst-case scenario, destroy them.
What other Costco products have been recalled?
The Kirkland Signature Greek Yogurt is not the only product Costco has recalled in the past few months. The company says it is committed to selling only the best and right products, and as a result, it has issued recalls for these products.
Recently, the company recalled the Kodiak Power Waffles and Rock River Castle Co. Smokey Hibachi Seasoned Beef Skirt Steak. The products were recalled for varying reasons, with the Kodiak Power Waffles recalled because of the presence of soft plastic film and the other product recalled because of undisclosed Allergen ingredients that were missing from the product label. The products have a sell-by date of September 13, 2024.
The products were both recalled voluntarily and have not been the reason for any serious health damage to customers, as the company has quickly ensured that they are taken off the shelf.
With the recalls being made, it is expected that customers who purchased recalled products will be able to get a refund or another product in exchange for any of the recalled items.
