National recall of snacks due to “life-threatening” allergy risk – These are the recalled products with lots and supermarkets affected

Allergy risk alert—here is what you need to know about this new recall to protect yourself and your family.

A large snack bar company has issued a national recall because of an allergic risk. The item in question involves different lots of products sold through major supermarkets as well as online retailers. If you or a member of your family suffers from a milk allergy, this is absolutely necessary for you to know.

What snacks are included in the recall?

This is for the Shirakiku Curvee Puffs Corn Puff Snack, curry flavour. The snack is distributed in orange coloured 2.46-ounce bags with the product code “07441078512”  printed on the right back side. In this recall all lot codes are included and also best-by dates.

Products were shipped by Wismettac Asian Foods, Inc. to 38 U.S. states, Mexico, retail stores, restaurants, and online platforms. The final batch was shipped on January 10, 2025.

Why are these snacks being recalled?

These contained undeclared milk, a major allergen. On January 20, 2025, the FDA issued a warning stating that, “People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.”

Milk allergies are common in children, but they can also occur in adults. The symptoms can be mild, such as hives or an upset stomach, or severe, such as anaphylaxis, which is a medical emergency.

Which supermarkets and retailers are affected?

The recalled snacks were sold in numerous retail locations, including major supermarket chains and online platforms. While the company has not disclosed the specific names of affected retailers, consumers are advised to check their pantries for any Shirakiku curry-flavored Curvee Puffs Corn Puff Snacks and discontinue use immediately.

If you purchased these snacks online, check your order history for this specific product code and contact the seller for guidance.

  • Dispose of the product safely: Ensure it is out of reach of children or others who may accidentally consume it.
  • Contact the manufacturer: Wismettac Asian Foods, Inc. can provide refunds or replacement options. You can reach them at the customer service number listed on the packaging or their official website.

Have there been any reported illnesses?

As of the FDA announcement, no illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported in connection with the recalled snacks. However, consumers are urged to err on the side of caution and take action immediately.
