Rite Aid is closing 27 stores across the US

On October 15, 2023, Rite Aid filed for “Chapter 11 Bankruptcy” protection while facing a debt of $3.3 billion. They began closing most of their stores and named a new CEO as a part of the restructuring. This led to the closing of different stores in October, November, January, and April.

The Detroit Free Press in June 2024, reported that Rite Aid was preparing to close all the remaining stores in Michigan and Ohio which is part of the retailer’s ongoing bid to restore its finances after the court filings in United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.

The 27 stores are situated in Ohio and Michigan. 15 stores shuttered in Ohio and 12 in Michigan would make a total number of 511 disrupted stores since the “Chapter 11 Bankruptcy” was filed in October 2023.
