Car manufacturer Stellantis has decided to recall two models of its vehicles after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration deemed them unfit due to a software issue that was discovered. The vehicles that were recalled included the 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler and the 2020-2024 Jeep Gladiator, both of which are some of the best vehicles that Stellantis has produced.
How many vehicles will be affected?
The recall by Stellantis is a measure to prevent its customers from the possibility of an accident while they use the vehicle on the highway and also a measure to ensure that they are within the guidelines set by the NHTSA on the production of vehicles that will be used on the highway.
The recall will see that 32, 863 of the 2020-2024 Jeep Gladiator and an additional 21,309 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler Vehicles will get recalled after they were both discovered to have a software issue that could pose a threat to customers’ safety on the highway, thereby putting a dent in the plan of the company to give its customers a safe driving experience.
The NHTSA says the vehicles didn’t meet the requirements for a federal motor vehicle. In an attempt to correct this notion, Stellantis will ensure that users will get a free replacement of the instrument panel cluster once the vehicles have been returned. This vehicle part has been deemed to be the cause of the fault, as the recall report says that “the instrument panel cluster may experience an internal short circuit and fail.”
How you can return your vehicle for a replacement
Returning your vehicle for a replacement of the instrument panel cluster is a process that is very easy to follow. To successfully do this, you can take the following steps:
- Look out for a recall notification, which will be sent out by Stellantis on October 3.
- When you receive this, you can decide to call the FCA customer service at 1-880-853-1403.
- It is important to note that the FCA’s number for this particular recall is 30B, as this will be vital in helping you get more information about how the software issue of your vehicle can be addressed.
Is this the first recall of the year for Stellantis?
Stellantis has had its fair share of recalls this year, and with this, it will be the third major recall that the company will be making in an attempt to serve its customers with the perfect product. In June, the company recalled close to 158,000 of its RAM 2500 pickups due to stability control issues.
Even more recently, it has recalled more than 1.5 million of its RAM pickup vehicles, which are located mostly in North America, after it was discovered that the vehicles had an anti-lock brake system that rendered them unsafe for the road as it could lead to a crash that might result in injury or worse, death.
While these recalls have been made, it should be noted that Stellantis has not been made aware of any crash involving its vehicle use on the highway.
