The largest Walmart in the US is Store 2152 in Albany, New York. It is situated at Crossgates Commons, a large shopping plaza in Albany. Store 21521 became the largest Walmart in the United States in 2008 when it expanded into a Walmart Supercenter with 260,000 square feet (24,000 m²) over two floors.

There are about 4,617 US Walmart stores in the US, averaging 179,000 square feet, all with unique features. And about 98 Walmart stores in New York alone. However, Store 2152 stands out as the largest. This store is not just the largest in New York, it also stands out as the largest in the United States and the world.

Established in 1994, Store 2152 initially occupied a space on the 1st floor of the building. However, in 2008, a club on the ground floor closed down, and Walmart took the opportunity, grabbed the space, and expanded.

Out of all the captivating features of this Walmart, the most convenient is the cart escalator which has become many of the customers’ favorite features. Alongside the regular escalator, the cart escalator makes it easy for customers to move their carts across floors when shopping.  

How big is the store 2152?

This Walmart Supercenter covers 260,000 square feet (24,000 m²) and spreads across the two floors. This two-story mart is well-structured, as the first floor houses the supermarket and the discount department store merchandise on the second floor. 

The Albany Walmart gained its mark during its expansion in 2008 when another floor was acquired. It combines a supermarket and a department store— so you can easily restock your kitchen before going on to shop for bedroom decor for your kid’s bedroom.

Albany Walmart, the largest Walmart in the US is located at Crossgates Commons in Albany, New York. Located just a mile from the State University of New York, in the state capital, Store 2152 enjoys a constant inflow of traffic, leaving its doors open to new and returning customers—especially in August when students are returning to their dorms. Most times, August rivals December in terms of customer influx, as students frequently storm stores for school and non-school supplies at the beginning of the semester.

Aside being the biggest Walmart Supercenter in the US, Store 2152 has the largest heart. It connects to the community by donating to the police and fire departments, and working with Albany Medical Center for the Children’s Miracle Network.
