Here is a brief breakdown of Social Security payments for July 2024.

Not all Social Security beneficiaries receive their payment according to their birth date.
Beneficiaries who retired before May 1997 received their payments on July 1 or will do so within the first week of July.
For the Supplemental Security Income (SSI), payments were made on July 1.
The payment schedule will differ slightly for recipients of both Social Security and SSI benefits. Instead of getting your July payment on the Wednesdays in July, you’ll receive your SSI payment on July 1, and the rest of your Social Security payment on July 3.
Which category of recipients will receive $4,873
Not all Social Security recipients will receive the maximum payment of $4,873.
According to the Social Security Administration (SSA), “The maximum benefit depends on the age you retire. For example, if you retire at 62 in 2024, your maximum benefit would be $2,710. However, if you retire at a full retirement age of 67 in 2024, your maximum benefit would be $3,822. If you retire at 70 in 2024, your maximum benefit would be $4,873.
Social Security beneficiaries that will receive $4,873 are primarily those who retired or applied for Social Security benefits at age 70. However, beneficiaries who fall under the following categories may also qualify for the maximum payment of $4,873 this July.
- Beneficiaries who have worked and have paid payroll taxes for at least 35 years.
- Recipients who have earned the maximum taxable income for at least 35 years.
If you meet any of the requirements listed above, you will receive Social Security payments of up to $4,873 on the scheduled payment date that matches your date of birth.
