How much can qualified individuals receive?
Three categories of individuals are paid monthly by the Social Security Administration under the SSI program.
The payment is open to applicants who can either file individually and receive $943 monthly, to couples who are filing jointly and will receive $1,415, or to individuals who are termed essential persons who are responsible for providing care to SSI recipients and can receive up to $472 per month. The payment has increased by 3.2% since last year, thanks to inflation.
Who is eligible to receive the SSI payments for September?
Social Security Income is one of the payments handed out by the Social Security Administration to certain individuals. These individuals must satisfy any of the following criteria to be eligible to receive the payment, which will be made in September.
- Must be a citizen of America.
- Must be either blind or disabled.
- Must be at least 65 years of age.
- Must also have a limited income.
- Must also have limited resources and means of obtaining income.
- Must be a non-citizen to which the Department of Homeland Security has granted certain classifications.
- Must have also given the SSA permission to request financial records about them.
- Must also be a resident of any of the 50 states in the US.
- To receive the payment, the individual must also have applied to receive the payment before September.
Who is not eligible to receive the payment?
It is important to note that not all individuals receive SSI payments. The following are categories of people who cannot receive the payments:
- The person who has an unsatisfied felony or has an arrest warrant.
- An individual who is in prison. Also, they won’t receive the payment they were owed before incarceration.
- An individual who is a non-citizen and has not met the non-citizen requirements.
